Mayara Mariotto

But here, I'd like to talk more about Mayara, a side you probably don't know:

My name is Mayara, I am an actress, tarot reader, Reiki practitioner, and astrologer in training.

But, before that, I'm Mayara, pet mom: Thor (my little angel who's in heaven now), Maple (my 6-year-old Canadian girl), and Kiara (my recently adopted baby, a real little rascal). I'm the daughter of Maria and Cicero, a mix of Portuguese, Indigenous, Italian, and African ancestry. I'm a Gemini, with Taurus rising and Aquarius moon.

I studied Law at FACAMP, but I didn't finish. I got to the sixth semester and realized that law wasn't for me. I worked in the export of non-ferrous metals in the field of materials recycling and moved to Toronto, Canada, to study Business-Marketing at Seneca College, graduating in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

My first spiritual awakening came at age 30, at the same time I decided to leave Canada to help with the treatment of my niece and goddaughter who had a terminal illness. Her passing made me confront deep-seated pain from my childhood, because losing her made me relive the passing of my younger sister when I was 17 and she was 14. I went through a great and painful dark night of the soul (I call it the dark night of the ego, because for me, the soul is fine, what really suffers is our ego, which is being undone: everything we believe in and cling to is being undone). I was already in therapy with a psychologist (analysis), but this awakening made me (by free and spontaneous pressure) open myself to my spirituality, something I had always avoided doing.

I explored Candomblé, a Spiritist center, underwent mediumistic development in Umbanda, used forest medicines like Ayahuasca, Rapé, and medicinal cacao (for healing the sacred feminine), and connected with my gypsy spirit, as tarot has always been a passion I denied (beliefs from a Catholic upbringing, I won't deny it). From there, I studied tarot in a more in-depth and therapeutic way, as well as the Gypsy Tarot, Runes, and various other oracles and tarot decks.
